So small, so helpless, the newborn infant cannot even lift his head or roll over on his own, but he holds in his tiny form a strength unimaginable to those who love him, for this tiny child inspires motivation and courage in his parents that they didn’t even know existed.
For him, they would do anything. They will give up luxuries they considered necessities until his birth. They will pass on vacations and fancy clothes just so that he is safe and warm and clothed and fed.
For him, they would do the unimaginable, and they pray they are never tested, for looking into his eyes they know they could even take another life to keep him safe.
On the days they falter and feel overwhelmed by the challenges of their world, one tiny smile from his face can make the ills of the day disappear, replaced with laughter and love for this child in their care.
He will keep them going, striving when they are exhausted, toiling when they feel they have nothing else to offer, for they do it for him. He is so very worth it to them and there is nothing they won’t do.
For him, they will strive, and they will succeed. They will say ‘We did it for him’, although inside they are amazed they did it at all.
Long after he walks or talks, long after he leaves home on his own adventures, he will still inspire them to do their all, to be all they can be for he is watching, they surmise, and he is still so very worth it.
