I am awake, I am alive, and today … well, this is it. My last full office day in my home office. Tomorrow I am in the new space, as phones and internet are connected, then home to begin the final wave of packing. Friday is full on packing and Saturday, I move!
And I couldn’t be happier.
Although the move has definitely come with its challenges so far, I have enjoyed “showing up” this week. I have maintained a high productivity rate over the last 10 years as I worked from home, but it is time to dress up and show up, time to fulfill a promise I made to myself years ago.
The promise – to work as hard for my company as I did for other’s because my company is worth just as much as theirs, if not more.
Imagine if that was always the standard:
-To love ourselves as much as we love others.
-To be as kind to ourselves as we are to those we care about.
-To support our dreams as adamantly and consistently as we support those of our children or spouse.
-To do as much for us as we do for them.
Because, as we all painfully discover in time, if we consistently put ourselves last, so does everyone else. (Funny how often we build the box that confines us.)
With this move, I am again “moving on up”, displaying for the world to see, the professionalism that until now has been hidden behind closed doors. Now, open doors will allow others to enjoy all I have built.
Soon, I will be working in an employee-friendly, elder-friendly, friend-creating space and I can’t wait.
It is time.
And you my friend, what is it time to do?
